Page 1 of 9 In the beginning.... It all started when a young 6 year old was given a guitar by the parents of a close friend who died all too soon. Young Johnny Pitcher had a hole in the heart and died at a very young age. Johnny expressed a wish that the guitar be given to Daren when he was gone. And so it began. Daren inherited a genetic musical pedigree from all sides of his family. Grandfather Harry Herring was an accomplished banjo and piano player often entertaining the sunday afternoon crowds at Crewe's 'Prince of Wales' pub. Daren's mother, Vanda (aka Jadzia), was a local celebrity with her 60's band, Vanda and the Vandals, resident at local pubs and clubs and even winning a recording deal with Philips as well as creating many headlines in the press. She went on to be the lead singer of North Wales band, 'Spinning Wheel' and later a succesful solo artist around the notorious cabaret clubs of Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. Spinning Wheel lead guitarists Dave Jones and later Mark Hollowood (aka Steve Chester) proved to be a big influence on the young Daren. Dave helped with chords and rythym styles.Mark Hollowood is responsible for introducing Daren to computer sequencers, initially, the trusty Yamaha CX5M music computer running DMS software. The software couldnt keep time, but that didnt prevent him using it live on stage!! About this time, Daren began to show a flair for DJing, often covering for the resident DJ at Highfield Hall Hotel on the decks.
