The music track to this song was written and recorded on a Friday night in May 2004. The following Sunday morning I woke, fired up my studio and sang the lyric in one take. What amazed me about it was that I hadn't written a lyric, I stood in front of the microphone and sang from the heart. This song is about finding yourself in an impossible position, unable to go forward or backwards. Emotional turmoil is often fertile ground for songwriters, it seems it is only when we are most down that we engage our feelings and truly feel them. Often the object of your affection finds themself in a hard place and has to make choices based on their best information. I found myself on the opposite side of the world to the person and the situation that was the cause of my turmoil, unable to do anything about it. It was an impossible situation. So much of a relationship is based upon trust and promises. When these arent able to be kept, it leaves us empty, hurt, tired and so alone.
